NFL Power Rankings: Are the Bucs still No. 1 heading into 2021?

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are set to kick off training camp later this week, preparing to defend their championship with another epic title run in 2021.

Could they be even better this season?

The good folks over at Touchdown Wire sure seem to think so, keeping the Bucs in the top spot in their latest NFL power rankings heading into the 2021 campaign.

Touchdown Wire’s Mark Schofield had this to say about the Bucs’ chances of repeating as Super Bowl champs:

Can Tom Brady actually be better in 2021?

The defending Super Bowl Champions brought the band back toghether to make another run, and if they do so it likely means that the above question was answered in the affirmative. After all, there are reasons to believe that Brady really could be better next season. He admitted to some struggles in learning the offense, and it came out recently that he played the entire 2020 season with a torn MCL.

Now? Now Brady is fully healthy, he has a year under his belt in the system, and all his weapons are back from the previous season.

Yeah, as crazy as it sounds, there is a chance he is better in 2021 than he was a year ago. Giving all of us old guys some hope.

There are indeed plenty of reasons to think Brady and the Bucs will somehow be even better than the version of themselves that rattled off a franchise-record eight consecutive wins to finish the 2020 season, going 4-0 in December to complete the regular season before doing the same through the playoffs. That postseason run included three straight road wins before the Bucs became the first team in NFL history to play and win a Super Bowl in their home stadium.

Plenty of challenges await the Bucs this season, both new and old, but they’re clearly the top dogs in the league until another team says otherwise by taking the title away from them.
