Carson Wentz’s injury is something for the Eagles to care about

Another article about Carson Wentz in the span of a few days on Bleeding Green Nation?

Well, yes, because — as previously stated — Wentz’s availability is a matter entirely relevant to the Philadelphia Eagles. You know, the team that’s covered here. We’re regularly going to be monitoring the status of the conditional 2022 second-round pick that the Indianapolis Colts owe to the Eagles.

On that very topic, there is already some level of concern about Wentz hitting the necessary thresholds to elevate that pick from a second to a first. Not only could Wentz’s vaccination status impact his playing time.

And so could a foot injury that currently has Wentz “out indefinitely,” according to Adam Schefter and Mike Wells. The Colts said they are still evaluating Wentz’s injury, one that caused the quarterback to feel pain and be unable to finish Thursday’s practice.

It doesn’t sound like it’s time for Indy to press the panic button in terms of Wentz being out for the season. At least, that’s the messaging NFL insider Mike Garafolo conveyed.

Still not sensing major alarms alarms here. Just further evaluation so the #Colts know what they’re dealing with here and how to treat it.

The 70% playtime threshold is still well within reach, #Eagles.

Perhaps Wentz will be ready in time to play in Week 1. Still, it sounds like he’s going to miss a decent chunk of practice time. Not exactly an ideal development for the Colts as Indy tries to “fix” Wentz and get him adjusted to a new system.

Should Wentz actually miss snaps in the regular season, the Colts could find themselves relying on 2020 fourth-round pick (No. 122 overall) Jacob Eason at quarterback. Eason has yet to play a snap in the NFL.

For the sake of getting a 2022 first-round pick, the Eagles will hope to see Wentz healed up soon. They also might be sighing a breath of relief that they’re no longer dealing with a quarterback who has had his fair share of injury issues since entering the league.
